Role & Strategy[]

  • Night Terror is an offensive fighter with a unique Signature Ability that provides two different effects based on her distance from the opponent. When close to the opponent, she can inflict FATIGUE and IMMOBILIZE, powerful DEBUFFS that can create openings for attacks. When farther away, she can gain MIASMA, a potent BUFF that allows her to drain the opponent's health and meter by simply being nearby. However, since the conditions to activate each of her Signature Abilities are opposite, players will need to recognize when to close or open the distance between Night Terror and the opponent.
  • MIASMA is a powerful buff that can significantly increase Night Terror's damage output and survivability by draining HP and meter, while FATIGUE and IMMOBILIZE can create openings for her to land additional hits as well as prevent the opponent from moving. To make the most of Night Terror's unique abilities, players should try to stay close to the opponent to inflict FATIGUE and IMMOBILIZE, and then move away to gain MIASMA stacks. Once she has built up enough MIASMA stacks, she can dash back in and start draining the life and meter from her opponents.
    • Note that Night Terror needs at least 6 seconds to gain the maximum amount of MIASMA possible, which gives her only 4 seconds to dash back in and start using it before the stacks start expiring. For this reason, pairing her with Evergreen Evil to make her MIASMA last longer can be beneficial.
  • When using Night Terror, it is important to be aware of her weaknesses. For instance, fighters with moves that allow them to hit her quickly from afar even while under the influence of IMMOBILIZE, like Beowulf with GIGANTIC ARM or Robo-Fortune with her various beams, can make it unsafe for Night Terror to use Fukua's various projectiles.
    • Night Terror is also very reliant on IMMOBILIZE in order to get her game plan going, as it makes keeping a distance and gaining MIASMA substantially easier. Therefore, opponents with access to IMMUNITY or a DEBUFF clear, like Splitting Image or Rose-Tinted respectively, can hinder her usability.
  • Marquee Ability: Both of Fukua's Marquee Abilities only activate when a certain percentage of health is lost, which is unfavorable when used offensively. Players who are proficient at Fukua will have ways to minimize damage as much as possible and avoid getting hit. SPECTRAL SPITE is recommended to further increase her damage output at low health.

Stat Investment[]

  • General Investment: As an offensive Fukua, Night Terror is best built with Attack, Piercing, Meter Gain and Special Cooldown.
  • Special investment: Accuracy will ensure that defenders don't resist her DEBUFFS. Crit Rate and Crit Damage will allow her to deal more damage when using moves like LOBS OF LOVE.

  • This variant's color palette is a reference to Ryūko Matoi (while she's mind-controlled in the show), from the Kill La Kill anime series.
  • The name of this variant is one of the two in the game that references Fukua (possibly) being a nightmare; the other being Dream Demon.
